As difficult as it may be, even in the midst of uncertainty, it is important to try and envision a future with all its possibilities, as this will go a long way in keeping hope and positivity alive.

For me, the collateral beauty after my tragedy has been my journey in finding the light in the darkest of times and the acceptance that some things are beyond our understanding.

“

On Monday, here in Toronto, a crazed and heartless human being deliberately ran their car onto the sidewalk of some pedestrians just minding their own business. 10 people died in this incidence.

“

It was just another day at school for Sam Zeif when the shots rang out and students and teachers began taking cover. But Sam wasn’t just worrying for his own safety in that moment — he was worrying about his brother, who was on the floor above him.

Death and violence affect everyone differently, but it’s how each and every person decides to move forward with that knowledge that is most important.

At the very least, I can love. That’s all I really have, after all. I can love with all my heart. When I depart from this place, at least I’ll know I tried.
